EAT The kitchen is professionally outfitted with two side-by-side Sub-Zero refrigerators/freezers,  two sinks (a shallow prep and a wide deep sink for washing), 6-burner Wolf gas range & double oven, broiler and grill plate, microwave, toaster oven, plumbed coffeemaker, 10-foot long chopping block island, and ample black granite top counter space. Three sets of cutlery (two are sterling silver and one is stainless steel), glassware, china, and linens are available to serve 60 guests. Kitchen tools include the basics and the extraordinary: from garlic presses to carrots curlers, multiple strainers, spinners, whisks, spoons, and tongs. Anolon knives, pots and pans, and a large Breville grill complete the experience.

DINE The main 21’ x 15’ dining room has garden views and double glass doors that open to the family room. The table comfortably seats ten. Enjoy al fresco dining on the upper terrace under the heated trellised patio. This exterior entertainment area features a full kitchen with a 46” DCS gas grill and rotisserie, a 2-burner range, an under the counter refrigerator with wine storage, a double sink with garbage disposal and ample stone topped counter space. The family table seats 8. Round tables to seat 150 people are stored in the garage.

SLEEP There are six bedrooms and seven bathrooms in the house. The master bedroom features a walk-in closet with generous shelving and drawers, TV & DVD, French doors opening to a tiled patio and secluded garden. All the bedrooms have either Queen or King-size beds and private bathrooms within each room. The linens are white high thread count with down comforters and pillows.

BATHE The house has five full and two half-bathrooms. The recently added downstairs spa bathroom has marble walls/floors and shower, a Ban Ultra Thermo Masseur tub and private commode. The master bathroom has a 6’ Kohler tub and separate water/spray fixtures, his and her sinks, a walk-in shower and private commode and bidet. Three of the bedrooms have walk-in closets and all have ample hanging/drawer and storage space. 

PLAY INSIDE Entertaining is a breeze in this spacious, conveniently equipped home. In addition to the gourmet kitchen and large dining room, the house features two exceptionally large rooms for entertaining.

The family living room (18’ x 28’) features a built in bar with ample wine storage, barware, sink, separate ice maker, and microwave. The Louis XIII stone fireplace with gas ignition, Sony Bravia 46” wall mounted flat screen TV with surround sound and a 9’ couch are perfect for lounging. Triple sets of French doors line one wall leading to the exterior entertainment area.

The more formal living room 18’ x 22’ sits in seclusion – separated 4 steps down from the main hallway. This space is a romantic hideaway with a handcrafted fireplace, adjustable lighting, a 19th Century French crystal chandelier, ample seating and large French doors that lead to the flagstone patio and pool.

PLAY OUTSIDE The outdoor gardens, patios and pool offer numerous options for large parties or small gatherings featuring a 20’ x 15’ elevated gazebo. Speaker systems connect the indoor stereo to the exterior and there are separate power sources remote from the house for party lighting and music. The heated pool with automatic cover is surrounded by meticulously maintained grounds, and a mature wisteria arbor. The personally attended raised vegetable and herb garden, fruit trees, ornamental flowers, and sculptured shrubbery with towering olives trees define this Montecito experience.   

WORK The house offers ideal work spaces. The upstairs wing offers a secluded bedroom that doubles as the main office. This space has views of the mountains and is equipped with a multifunction color printer. The office furniture contains a 7’ Italian desk and credenza, bookshelves, and an Eames chair.  Wireless DSL functions throughout the house. There will be an IT Manager on-call for trouble shooting any internet or connectivity issues if they arise. The downstairs guest room and two additional bedrooms feature large desks and Eames chairs. (Guests will supply their own computers.)

THE LITTLE THINGS The radiant in-floor heating with individual room thermostats keeps your feet barefoot warm all year. The water system is R/O with instant hot in all the faucets.

The broad spectrum of digitized and centrally controlled music includes jazz, country, standards, classical, opera, hip hop and world music. There is a DVD collection of new and classic films. If you love reading, there is an extensive selection of architecture, interior design, travel and food magazines.  There are novels for reading, photography and large format art books for perusing. 

The house has a modern art collection as well as current and some vintage photography. A whimsical North African, via Paris, chandelier of colored crystals twinkles in the afternoon sun through the 19th Century glass and iron crafted entry doors. 

SEAL THE DEAL What ever the reason you have chosen to rent in Montecito there are schools and services; activities and attractions to suit every lifestyle. The house is located in distinguished Montecito Union school district. The nearby Montecito Union School is welcoming to parents and children alike, plus there is a YMCA across from it for recreation and after-school care.

From the house, you can take hikes in Santa Barbara’s extensive trail system. The house is strategically located between historic Santa Barbara seven minutes to the north and the internationally recognized Santa Barbara Polo fields and famous surfing beaches just south. A trip to the wine county in Santa Ynez is only 45 minutes from home.

LOGISTICS The rental includes weekly housekeeping and all gardening.  Additional service help can be secured. The laundry room has a washer, dryer and built in ironing board. A welcome basket of foods and libations await your arrival.  The property has a three car garage, coded automatic gate and ample space for additional parking. There will be at least one car available. There will be an on-call house manager to assist with questions about the area and to maintain the property.
